We were curious to know what happens when everyday wonders are marketed for tourism. We asked a group of locals if they remembered how they experienced the northern lights before they were marketed.

of the past

Guðjóna Albertsdóttir lived in Suðureyri and she had a casette recorder sitting on the kitchen windowsill that she used to record songs, stories, and conversations in the 80´s and 90´s. This video is a visit to her kitchen soundscape.

Talking about the weather

During the winter and especially in the darkest hours when the sun can’t reach the town the weather plays a big role in people’s lives. This video shows in a slightly dramatic and ironic way what the atmosphere can be like before storms hit.
